The Noble Green Initiative is dedicated to restoring and conserving Sri Lanka’s natural ecosystems. Through tree planting, forest restoration, water conservation, and community engagement, it empowers volunteers to rehabilitate native landscapes while combining ecological work with environmental education.
By nurturing both the land and local communities, the initiative fosters a lasting culture of sustainability, guided by the Foundation’s principles of freedom, compassion, and noble values.

Access to clean water is a basic requirement that contributes to a sense of security and stability essential for personal well-being. In Ingiriya, where our programmes thrive, abundant rainfall for much of the year is often offset by irregular weather patterns that bring droughts, making it difficult for residents and visitors to meet their basic water needs. To overcome this challenge, we launched a rainwater harvesting initiative, capturing, filtering, and storing rainwater from building roofs to ensure a sustainable water supply for all residents in our programmes. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Lanka Rainwater Harvesting Forum and is generously sponsored by the NextWorldNow Community.

Recognising the urgent need for a reliable water supply in the growing community and surrounding areas, we have launched an ambitious water project centered on a massive reservoir with a capacity of 400 million litres, covering 2.5 acres of land. This reservoir will serve as the backbone of a comprehensive water distribution system, including tanks and pipelines, designed to deliver water efficiently to the surrounding areas. The project will not only meet the immediate demands of the community but also ensure a continuous water supply during drought periods, securing long-term sustainability, safeguarding public health, and promoting the overall well-being of the region.

We have begun installing solar panels to harness clean, renewable energy from the sun. This initiative reduces our dependence on conventional power sources while supporting and easing the demand on the national electricity supply. We currently supply 90kW of solar power to the national grid in Sri Lanka. By choosing solar energy, we are taking a meaningful step toward a greener future, lowering environmental impact, promoting energy sustainability, and demonstrating responsible energy use.
