This year, on World Forest Day (21st March), under the theme “Forests and Economies,” we celebrated the vital role forests play in sustaining our environment, communities, and livelihoods. Marking this meaningful occasion, we launched our initiative to plant 1,000 trees across the island, beginning with the planting of Breadfruit and Ceylon Ironwood (Na) trees within the serene grounds of Jethavanarama Buddhist Monastery.

The planting event brought together officials from the Department of Forest Conservation, Sri Lanka, alongside children from Noble Hearts and Noble International School, offering them a hands-on opportunity to connect with nature. The officials also held a session highlighting the link between forests, sustainability, and the economy. Through their participation, the children discovered not only how tree planting supports sustainability, but also how forests can sow seeds of inner peace that grow alongside every tree.
