Herbal medicine occupies a cherished position in the cultural fabric of Asian communities, offering a deep connection to ancestral wisdom and traditions. This holistic approach promotes not only physical health but also emotional and spiritual well-being. To ensure everyone can exercise their freedom to natural healing, we maintain a vibrant herbal garden at Maththegoda, Sri Lanka. With approximately 1,500 herbs highlighted in ancient texts, our 8-acre garden nurtures over 1,000 species of herbal plants, most of which are rare and extremely difficultto cultivate.

This sanctuary features a diverse array of medicinal plants, from healing herbs like Ribbon Fern (Pati dathu) and Gurmar (Masbedda) to towering trees such as Cuddapah Almond (Kiri palu) and Ceylon satinwood (Burutha). It also shelters endemic species like Nilgiri Ironwood (Keena) and brings to light rare finds like benzoin resin (Sambrani) and endangered plants like Jewel Orchid (Wanaraja). Moreover, two acres are devoted to cultivating indigenous paddy varieties, such as Suwadel and Pachchaperumal, grown entirely without pesticides.

This garden provides free herbs for thousands of prescriptions each month, reinforcing the importance of choice and access in personal wellness, and our commitment to embracing the freedom to heal naturally and sustainably.
